Letting Go

A Cicada, which has outgrown itself, gained the ability to crawl out of its own casing that has become too small for it to breathe.

It leaves behind an intact carcass.

"What am I going to do with such a beautiful carcass?" the cicada wonders.

Because it doesn't want to abandon a body that once belonged to it, it decides to carry the carcass around.

Because it is burdened by the cumbersome carcass, it has become easy target to the sharp-eyed birds.

Because it has become an easy prey to the sharp-eyed birds, it lives its days in fear.

Because it is constantly in fear, it starts to doubt the reason for its very own existence.

"Let it go, let it go...." the wind whispers.

"Should I?' asks the Cicada.
"Let it go, let it go...." the wind stresses.

"Can I?'

"Let it go, let it go...." and the wind takes off.

"Will I?" wonders the Cicada, unaware of an approaching spider, looking for its next meal....

and a praying mantis spotting the trail of that spider,

and a bird perched on a nearby branch with eyes locked on that unsuspecting mantis,

and an eagle up in the sky maneuvering its course towards that bird,

and a man tracing that eagle through the eye piece of his rifle,

and a stray comet spinning silently and slowly towards planet earth......
